English’s lifelong love of color pervades her unique, brightly-colored hand-smithed jewelry crafted of Argentium silver and pigmented resin. Her background in architecture is evident in her structural designs which are formed by hand-smithing Argentium silver with an acetylene torch. Based in Atlanta, GA, English has been silver-smithing for over 7 years and hand-crafting jewelry for more than a decade. Shown here in her studio, English can be contacted at elsapo@elsapo.biz.
What is Argentium silver? Sterling silver is an alloy, or combination, of silver and copper. Thanks to copper, regular sterling silver tarnishes as it oxidizes. Argentium is a new alloy that replaces the .075% of copper in silver with germanium. Like other metals, germanium is an element on the periodic table. It just doesn’t tarnish like copper! Who wants to spend time polishing?! For more info on Argentium silver, visit http://argentiumsilver.com/what-is-argentium/.
